5.9GHz automotive EMI ferrite bead inductor

BLM15VM is an automotive ferrite beads inductor intended to block frequencies around 5.9GHz.

Announced by Murata, it is particularly intended for 5G vehicle-to-everything (5G-V2X) applications.

“In recent years, the use of high-frequency wireless communication in the automotive sector has increased.,” according to the company. “It is primarily used for content distribution for navigation, audio and other infotainment systems. Improving sensitivity and noise suppression in these communication systems becomes mission-critical to support driver assistance systems and eventually autonomous driving.”

The device will come in a 0402 (1 x 0.5mm) package, will typically exhibit an impedance of 1kΩ at 5.9GHz, and will operate from -55 to 150°C with derating breakpoints at 85 (900mA) and 125°C. Resistance is 0.245Ω at dc.


As well as 5G, said the company, there is DSRC (dedicated short-range communication) in a 5.8GHz band, and sub-6GHz Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7.

Mass production is scheduled to begin in July 2025, when the inductor will be compliant with AEC-Q200.
