Announced today, there are parts for Zigbee, Bluetooth and Matter-over-Thread, and for mains or battery power.
SixG301 is the mains-powered (line-powered) family, where ‘x’ becomes ‘B’ for the Bluetooth LE (and Bluetooth mesh) focussed variant, or ‘M’ for multi-protocol types. Concurrent multi-protocol operation will be possible.
These are for smart home products and include an LED pre-driver for lighting applications.
On-board will be options up to 4Mbyte of flash and 512kbyte of RAM, helping to “future-proof customer designs as the requirements for Matter and other more demanding IoT applications continue to grow”, said SiLabs.
The flash is co-packaged, and with a 2Mbyte option, and a zero-flash option with an external QSPI interface with run-time authentication and encryption.
SixG302 is the battery-powered line, for which the company is claiming 15µA/MHz active current, which “makes it ideal for battery-powered wireless sensors and actuators for both Matter and Bluetooth applications”, said SiLabs.
First out of the traps is SiBG301, the mains-powered Bluetooth IC, which is sampling now with general availability slated for Q3 2025.
It has an 150MHz Arm Cortex-M33 core (see diagram) and a security engine designed for PSA level 3 certification. Multi-protocol operation is possible with Bluetooth and some proprietary 2.4GHz protocols, said the company.
Its 2.4GHz receiver receivers will have -106.8dBm sensitivity for 125kbit/s GFSK, -98.6dBm for 1Mbit/s and -95.7dBm for 2Mbit/s. Transmission it at up to 10dBm.
Particularly for lighting, two PixelRZ single wire communication interfaces are included – Electronics Weekly has requested more information on this interface, so watch this space it you are interested.
Operation is from a single rail between 1.8 and 3.63V, and over -40 to 125°C.
The similar SiMG301 will follow, which adds a 802.15.4 wireless interface capable of -106.3dBm sensitivity with 250kbit/s O-QPSK DSSS modulation – MSK and GMSK are also supported.
Samples of the battery powered types are scheduled to be with customers in 2026.
