“The outdoor SSPA is suited for replacing aging indoor TWTAs, enabling service providers to eliminate long waveguide runs by installing high-power amplifiers closer to the antenna,” according to the company. “An indoor rack mount version is also available that is only 8RU high, making this device significantly smaller than older generations of TWTA.”
Based on GaN components, the power amplifier includes a BUC (block up-converter), RF sample port, and true RMS power measurement.
Phase noise is 8dB better than IESS308/309 recommendations, according to the company, and spurious emission are below -60dBc.
Monitoring and control are over RS-232, RS-485, or over Ethernet with an embedded Web browser.
Options include an internal 10MHz reference, ALC (automatic level control), a remote control panel and kits for antenna mounting kit, 1:1 redundancy or 1:2 redundancy.
What about the holes in the enclosure?
“The electronics in the SSPA are sealed and the fans are IP rated,” SpacePath told Electronics Weekly. “The holes on the side are part of the cooling structure, which is separated from the sealed electronics section.”
Dimensions are 61 x 51 x 32cm and 56kg.
