5. China car makers aim for 100% local chip content by next year
China’s car makers are planning to use 100% domestically designed and manufactured chips by 2027 under a project initiated by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Two major Chinese car brands are said to be aiming to achieve the goal by 2026. The project represents an acceleration of the China government’s domestication goal for locally produced chip content in cars – an earlier goal set by the government for this year was for 25% of the chips used in China-manufactured cars to be locally sourced.
4. Google begins rolling out Android 16
Google is releasing Android 16, the latest major update to the mobile and embedded operating system. As always, the rollout begins with Pixel devices. 2. UK and Japan to sign nuclear fusion collaboration deal
On Thursday, the UK and Japan are expected to sign a collaboration agreement on the development of nuclear fusion. The target is to present a viable demo of the technology by the end of the 2030s, reports the Nikkei. Japan’s contribution is expected to be it’s manufacturing capabilities while the UK’s contribution is expected to be its expertise in remotely operating robots inside nuclear facilities and managing fusion reactors.

The Trump Organisation intends to launch an Android smartphone in August called the T1 selling for $499 and made in America.
