Texas Instruments has announced a series of non-isolated plug-in power modules to help designers meet the termination requirements of the double data rate (DDR) and quad data rate (QDR) I and II memory systems used in data networking and telecommunications applications.
The modules are more than 90 per cent power efficient, can operate from a 3.3V, 5V or 12V input, and deliver continuous output current of up to 6A, 10A, 12A and 15A.
Each of the PTH non-isolated modules generates a termination voltage (V[sub]tt) that will source or sink current to accurately track the reference bias input (V[sub]ref).
For added system fault protection, they feature under-voltage lockout, over-current and over-temperature controls, and the modules are second-sourced by members of the Point of Load Alliance, to ensure interoperability.
The compact devices are available in surface-mount, vertical through-hole or horizontal through-hole styles. Suggested pricing per 1,000 units is $9.95 for the 6A PTH modules; $11.50 for the 10A modules; and $13.95 for the 12A and 15A devices.
