Automotive LED drivers for instrument cluster backlights

Rohm has developed four and six channel automotive LED drivers for 5 – 10in+ backlights behind displays and instrument clusters.

Rohm REFLED003-EVK-001 eval kit

The parts (table below) include 20,000:1 PWM dimming and dc dimming in a way which “eliminates flickering when changing display brightness from low to high”, according to the company.

Switching can be between 200kHz and 2.4MHz, and operation is over -40 to +125°C)

Qualification is AEC-Q100.

There are multiple development boards to go with the ICs: REFLED002, REFLED004, and REFLED003 (pictured) – the latter coming in two flavours depending on the built-in mosfet.
