Steam education is child’s play

STEAM 2024, the event for schoolchildren to discover the thrill and wonder of science, technology, engineering, arts and maths (STEAM) returned to Thorpe Park in Surrey, UK in October.

The event is organised by ACS International Schools which took over the park for the day together with partners Barclays, Microsoft, Surrey Police, the Royal Air Force, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra hosting workshops and activities.

10,000 students, 1,000 teachers, 60 industry partners, 300 student volunteers and over 100 adult volunteers

“The importance of hosting events like this cannot be overstated. These experiences go far beyond the excitement of the day—they provide a platform for young people to develop essential workplace skills, from problem-solving to communication, while building connections between industry and education that will last a lifetime,” said Graeme Lawrie, partnerships director at ACS International Schools.

Plans are already underway for STEAM 2025 which is also looking for further sponsorship and/or donations. (All donations are spent on the event, ACS supplies staff and logistics.)
