4kW 400V to 12V dc-dc converter for EVs is liquid-cooled

Bel Fuse has announced 4kW liquid-cooled dc-dc converter for low voltage accessories in hybrid and electric vehicles.

Bel 4kW vehicle dcdc

Called 350DNG40-12-8, it can deliver between 10 and 15Vdc from 240 to 450Vdc at up to 93% efficiency with full galvanic isolation between input and output.

It features a CAN bus interface (output trimming is via CAN) and IP67 or IP6k9k environmental ratings, suiting it to on and off-highway vehicles as well as construction, underground mining and marine equipment.

Operation is with coolant between -40 and +65°C, rising to +85°C if power is limited to 3kW.

Suitable coolants are 50/50 water with propylene or ethylene glycol, at a minimum of 10 litre/min (20 litre/min max, 2bar max).

Protections include input reverse polarity, over-temperature and, for the output: over-voltage, output over-current and reverse-polarity.

Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS), CAN FD and cyber-security are options.

The footprint fits into a 356 x 284mm rectangle, including (unmated) connectors.

The converter has e-Mark certification to comply with ECE regulations.

Find the converter at Mouser and DigiKey, and at this product page.
