“These connectors comply with the latest PCIe CEM 5.0/6.0 specifications and support devices requiring AIC [ampere interrupting capacities] of up to 675W”, according to the distributor.
The 600V (dc or peak ac) 9.5A power pins have 5mΩ resistance and suit 16 AWG wires, and the 1A phosphorous bronze signal pins have 20mΩ resistance and suit 28AWG.
“Hybrid Micro-Fit+ PCIe 12V-2×6 connectors are mechanically keyed to comply with CEM 5.0/6.0 base requirements, so they are not intended to mate with legacy 2×3 and 2×4 PCIe connectors,” according to Molex. “The connectors have a low pitch that helps reduce footprint when compared to these legacy designs.”
The two halves lock together with a thumb-releasable latch.
To give an idea of size, power pin pitch is 3mm, and the business end of the cable-end connector in the picture measures ~ 21 x 12mm including the latch arm.
The board-mount part is right-angled – so suited to a board edge with coupled cables leaving away from the edge parallel to the plane of the board.
Applications are foreseen in automotive, medical, consumer, telecommunications and networking.
