“The connectors feature a dedicated ground contact and are suitable for a range of applications in industries such as alternative energy, telecommunications and anything powered by electric motors, including electric or hybrid vehicles,” according to Inelco Hunter, which is stocking the connectors. “It is designed to be touch-proof and it boasts an IP67 rating.”

The thermoplastic shell is UL F1-rated for outdoor use, resisting ultraviolet light, water exposure and immersion. Certifications also include UL94-V0.

Against vibration, mating halves are retained by a reverse bayonet design – the Amphe-PRB connectors are rated to withstand shocks and vibrations up to 15g, said Inelco.

Operating is up to 600Vac and, depending on version, up to between 46 to 60A. Wires between 8 and 6AWG (8-16 mm2) can be accommodated. Both crimp and set-screw terminations are offered.
