Replacement for ITW McMurdo Red industrial connectors

For those seeking form fit and function replacements for Red range rack and panel connectors from ITW McMurdo, Weald Electronics offers its LMR series.

Lane Electronics Weald LMR Connectors

The Red range “was made obsolete in 2024, Most residual stock of this widely used connector family has now been consumed”, according to Weald. “Matching the technical performance and dimensions of the Red range, Weald LMR is a compact but heavy-duty rectangular rack and panel connector system, particularly suited for use in rugged conditions.”

There are four connector sizes: 8, 16, 24 or 32 ways, and the gold-plated low-insertion-force blade contacts are rated for at least 500 operations.

The UL-94 V-0 flame-retardant insulator is shaped to provide polarising and self-aligning features which engage before the contacts touch, and the the female half is fitted with floating mounting bushes – two features that suit the connector to blind mating and inaccessible applications.

Contacts are rated for 800Vdc (or ac peak), and 5A continuously on all contacts simultaneously at 100°C, and connected assemblies meet climate category 55/125/56, which includes -55 to +125°C operation.

Resistance is initially 5mΩ or below, rising to 10mΩ max max after conditioning.

Distributor Lane Electronics, as sister company to Weald, is stocking the parts.
