105°C radial electrolytics from 350 to 600V

Vishay has slotted 350, 500, 550 and 600V four-terminal aluminum electrolytic capacitors into its 299 PHL-4TSI snap-in family “greatly expanding the range of capacitance-voltage combinations available to designers of power supplies and industrial and home appliance inverters”, according to the company.

With a cylindrical aluminum cases (with pressure relief) from 35mm in diameter by 50mm tall to 45 dia by 100mm, insulated with a blue sleeve, the capacitors offer significant capacitance in a PCB-mount form, with increased physical stability through the four mounting points – the company is pitching the parts against separately-mounted capacitors connected with bus bars.

The four terminals are also positioned to provide inherent keying during mounting.

Ripple current ratings vary from 1.9 to 7.6A, and operation is up to 105°C where useful life is >5,000hr according to the company, although IEC 60384-4 / EN130300 sub-clause 4.13 endurance is rated at 2,000hr (105°C max voltage).

Picking 500V 680μF as an example, it is available in 35mm diameter x 80mm tall form, as well as 40 dia x 60mm, or 45 dia x 50mm. Max ripple in all three is ~3.45A and 100Hz ESR is ~170mΩ.

The capacitors are Reach- and RoHS-compliant.

Smoothing, filtering and energy storage applications are foreseen.

For applications only requiring 85°C operation, 096 PLL-4TSI is a similar alternative family, said Vishay.
