
“In software-defined vehicles, RISC-V is key to standardisation and ecosystem compatibility,” claimed Infineon’s automotive president Peter Schiefer.
The kit will be provided by Synopsys, and is intended to spur the development of virtual MCU prototype for software development en-route to real silicon.

“IAR, Elektrobit, Green Hills, HighTec, Lauterbach, PLS and Tasking have started to use the software development kit, and will showcase their first solutions at Embedded World – more partners will follow in the course of 2025,” according to Infineon. “Based on their solutions, the virtual prototype will evolve into a digital twin of Infineon’s future microcontroller family.”
Infineon is part of Quintauris, a company formed to promote RISC-V adoption – ST is another member, as are Bosch, Nordic, NXP and Qualcomm.
