TI gets $4.6bn in Chips Act funding

TI has been awarded $1.6 billion of Chips Act money and a loan of $3 billion and the right to a 25% tax credit on infrastucture investments to go towards its ongoing $18 billion investment in fab.

The proposed funding would be split across three projects in two locations:

In Sherman, Texas, the construction of two new, large-scale 300-mm fabrication facilities that are expected to produce 65nm – 130nm essential chips.

In Lehi, Utah construction of a new, large-scale 300-mm fabrication facility to produce 28nm – 65nm analogue and embedded processing chips.
