Intel’s Chief Engineering Officer leaves

Intel’s Chief Engineering Officer Venkata (Murthy) Renduchintala is to leave on August 3rd and the company’s process development will now be headed by Ann Kelleher (pictured).

Last week it was revealed that the 7nm process was a year behind schedule.

Two years ago, Intel’s process guru Mark Bohr left after the 10nm process was running several years late.

Before joining Intel, Renduchintala was at Qualcomm, Skyworks and Philips Consumer – none of which had their own IC processing capabilities.

He took on the job of turning around the process development effort after 10nm ran into trouble.

Intel CEO Bob Swan said in November that Intel would catch up with rivals TSMC and Samsung in 2021 with the 7nm process.

Replacing Renduchintala is Ann Kelleher from Macroom, County Cork who joined Intel in 1996 to work in process engineering. Kelleher worked on Intel’s 65nm process at the company’s Leixlip fab. She will now be responsible for 7nm and 5nm development.
