The project is expected to cost $70 million. Softbank is putting up $21 million. The Riken research institute and Shinko Electric are considering contributing investment or technological collaboration. The Japanese government may also supply funding.
Softbank will have priority for the supply of the chips which will support its AI processor development being done by Arm and Graphcore,
