Foxconn and Mitsubishi hook up on EVs

Mitsubishi Motors and Foxconn have signed an MoU to supply an EV for the Australian and New Zealand markets starting in 2026.

The vehicle will be developed by Foxconn subsidiary Foxtron Vehicle Technologies, manufactured by Yulon Motor of Taiwan and branded Mitsubishi.

Foxtron is a jv between Yulon and Foxconn. Yulon makes Nissans under licence in Taiwan.


The EV for the Australian and New Zealand markets will be a compact  SUV expected to be based on the Foxtron Model B.

The deal is seen as a validation by a recognised car manufacturer of Foxtron’s business model as a contract designer and manufacturer of EVs.

Foxtron’s business aspiration is to accelerate EV development by optimising platformisation and modularised components.
